John Marshall Ballrooms

The Grand Restored Ballrooms

The Hotel John Marshall opened in 1929 as the largest hotel in Virginia.
Its rooms welcomed Elizabeth Taylor, Mary Tyler Moore, and Elvis Presley
along with political figures such as Presidents Nixon, Ford, and Carter.
After sitting vacant for over 20 years (save a few attempts to open)
the building recently underwent a $80 Million renovation,
spanning two years of construction to strip it back to the bones
and restore it to its original 1920's grandeur.

The Virginia Ballroom

The elegant Marshall Ballroom will wow your guests with
nine vintage crystal chandeliers & three walls of grand,
thirty-foot windows. The lead-paned glass encased in elaborate hand-crafted molding emulates that classic Richmond feel.
The stunning Virginia Ballroom features a wrap-around
mezzanine balcony that leads into the main floor from
a split staircase for your grand entrance.
The room is illuminated by the three original
Swarovski crystal chandeliers and your guests can dance
the night away on our recently restored hardwood dance floor.
We also offer elegant dressing suites and a stunning lobby for your cocktail hour.
